The Theta Nu Epsilon Society.

The Alpha Delta Chapter at Illinois Wesleyan University.

The Alpha Delta Chapter is first known in 1907, but it was probably chartered by the Alpha-Beta National as early as 1893. It is considered a legitimate chapter because it was later legitimized in 1912 by the United National. There was a sponsorship of the chapter by a Professor Burgess. It was a traditional chapter and chose the side of the N. P. of T. N. E. in the 1925 society split, which is also when it was last known.

It is not known who the author was, but there was a fantastic budding author in the Alpha Delta chapter in 1921 and 1922. At this time, the chapter had a public publication called The Green Eye which was a small decimo of a few pages each issue. It is packed though, with dense tiny type, professionally printed, with some articles that are almost arresting in their energy and enthusiasm. Most of them are written with a bitingly sacrastic tone against Dean Thomas Arkle clarke of the University of Illinois. Clarke made a small national name for himself attacking the Illinois Chapter of Theta Nu Epsilon, (but who also had a later reconciliation with the society). These issues of The Green Eye were written at the height of the controversies, and verge on a brilliant ridicule of Clarke and others. This is one example. Again, it is not known who the author or authors were, but it makes one very curious to see if their later literary career matched the promise of these writings.
