The Alpha Iota Chapters at Harvard University.

There were two Alpha Iota Chapters at Harvard.

The first Alpha Iota Chapter was founded in 1895. The Chapter was not a legitimate chapter at first, having been possibly chartered by Alpha-Beta National, but it was legitimized in 1895 by the Alpha Chapter. Presumably, being at Harvard, the members were easily able to find and contact Wesleyan directly for legitimation. In 1902, the Alpha Iota Chapter organized the Phoenix Club for dining and residential purposes. The Alpha Iota Chapter did not participate in the creation of the 1907 United National, but became a regular participant in the Nationals until 1913. Being a traditional chapter, the Alpha Iota was driven from the National in the 1913-16 Interfraternity Conflict. At some point, members of the Alpha Iota, ceased meeting as members of Theta Nu Epsilon, although their club continued. In 1925, the Phoenix Club merged with the S-K Club, as the Phoenix S.K. Club. Still active.

The second Alpha Iota chapter was created in 1924, (perhaps while members of the Phoenix Club were still acting as the original Alpha Iota Chapter). It is taken to be a legitimate chapter because it was chartered by the Madden National. The chapter was intended to be a four-year fraternity chapter, and took that side in the 1925 split, but only continued until 1928.
